1.
If you reside in Ohio or surrounding states we may
know a reputable and responsible Siberian Husky breeder (we
will only recommend a breeder we know PERSONALLY) with puppies
currently, puppies on the way, an adult looking for a retirement
home, or a rescue dog in need. Keep in mind most reputable,
ethical breeders who are breeding for the right reasons ONLY
plan a litter when wanting a puppy to keep for themselves,
thus may only breed a litter every year or two. If the Siberian
Husky is the right
breed for you we will help
you if we are able. We are not planning a litter until mid
2007. We DO NOT ship pet puppies. All pet puppies are placed
on AKC Limited Registation and a spay/neuter contract - there
are no exceptions).

Visit the Siberian
Husky Club of America Referral Directory.
Keep in mind - National breed clubs are voluntary organizations.
While the Siberian Husky Club of America has a Code
of Ethics there is no assurance that breeders
on the breeder referral list meet this code of ethics.
It is up to the purchaser to ask pertinent questions.
You need to view health clearance certificates for hip
(OFA) and eye tests (performed by a licenced ACVO, CERF
or SHOR certification) for BOTH sire and dam. View the
Siberian Husky Club of America Guidelines
for Ethical Breeding Practices and Guidelines
for the Sales of Puppies and Adult Dogs. Membership
to the Siberian Husky Club Of America is not simply
gained by paying a yearly fee - prospective
members must meet minimum
standards, have two sponsors, and be
voted in.
RED
LIGHTS - Run don't walk!
• Does
the Siberian Husky breeder have six litters in one
month, breeding Siberian Husky puppies for profit so
they can continue to feed their adult dogs?
• Does
the Siberian Husky breeder offer bargain basement prices
due to having too many puppies to find homes for?
• Are
prices displayed on the web site showing a "puppy
supermarket"
mentality?
• Is
the breeder willing to ship a Siberian Husky puppy
with no regard to how suitable the breed may be for your
family? Reputable breeders will perform home checks.
• Eye
and hip clearances should be performed BEFORE any breedings
take place, not as an afterthought.
• Does
the breeder need to perform a DNA test to ascertain who
the sire is?
If
the answer to any of these questions is "YES",
you have not found a reputable Siberian Husky breeder.
Ask the breeder "WHY
DO YOU HAVE THE NEED TO BREED SO MANY LITTERS"?
This is NOT a breeder interested in the well being and
protection of their breed. There are many Siberians
in rescue that
are in need of a forever home!
Beware
of a breeder offering for sale more than a few puppies
from a current litter, or more than one or two adult
dogs for sale. A kennel which always has dogs for sale
is an indication of a business out of control:
poor socialization and poor follow-up care.
The
only reason to be breeding purebred dogs is to preserve
the best qualities of the breed. Breeding to supply a
market is not a justification.
UNLESS
you are interested in showing your Siberian Husky a reputable
breeder will sell pet puppies on AKC Limited Registration
on a spay/neuter contract.

BREED
INFORMATION - Is
the Siberian Husky the RIGHT breed for you?
The
Siberian Husky is a striking dog, but he is NOT the ideal
dog for everyone!
The Siberian Husky: MUST be kept confined or kept under control at
all times / can NOT be trusted off leash;
is a gregarious breed and NEEDS company; is a prey hunter; likes to dig;
sheds coat; and is not a guard dog.
